Summary
Writing to say how sorry he is to hear of his son's illness; saying "I fear he has been over working & I wish to say, with every good wish of the season, how very sorry I am & how I wish I had known of his illness in order to offer him refuge here. I have no doubt, however, that he is safe with you now & I trust improving. November & indeed December have been to me very trying as I have had bronchial cold. In January we go to Bath for a course of treatment;" relating news of mutual friends and recent publications.
