Regretting that he is unable to accept his "kind proposal" as he "could make little or nothing of value. Perhaps you will allow me to 'ruminate' a little more over it;" asking how he is "...getting on with his 'Magnum Opus'. I have been very busy for the last few days looking over the Revise of Dean Stanley's last volume 'Christian Institutions' with a view to verify quotations where he trusted much to memory and this must plead my excuse for not answering your before."
