Summary
Apologizing for not writing as he was ill; saying he thinks he may now be in Rome, "where you will find a multitude of objects to satisfy your curiosity. I remember the pleasure I had forty years ago in recalling to my mind att every step I made the grandeur of old Rome, and in contrasting it in my mind with yours of modern Rome; the one built on the heroical spirit of her inhabitants, the other on the ignorance, & Superstision of her neighbours. if you follow your first intentions, you will be soon in this country I suppose. it is said that people prepare in every part of our Island for the next election, and this circumstance may possibly hasten your return."
