Summary
Sending on the news they have received from Madrid, Paris, and Milan; mentioning that the Duke of Orleans is lacking provisions and ammunition, that "Admiral Lake" (probably Admiral John Leake) is near Genoa, and that the army of the Duke of Savoy (Victor Amadeus) will soon "open the Campagne in Provence"; conveying more military news, including that the Prince Electoral of Brunswick (George I) is in Antwerp and waiting to join forces with the Duke of Marlborough; adding that the Prince Royal of Prussia (Frederick William I) will be opening his campaign on the High Rhine and heading for the Moselle, where he will meet up with Prince Eugene, "who's hastening the March of the troops whereof his Army will be Composed, & they write it will be in a condition to act within 8 or 9 days"; writing further about the troubles in Hamburg (see MA 4644.54): "8 or 9 of the the most turbulent Citizens are taken up, as well as the Minister of the Cathedral Church, who has been the first Mover of all the tumults in that town, & who has been already deposed, & in all probability will be further punished"; promising to send his accounts for the last quarter soon; telling the Duke he has drawn another £100 from Sir Francis Child, the last hundred that they currently have credit for: "I wish I were able to Husband better the money we spend. God knows that I do my best...".
