The letter is double-dated February 18, 1706 / March 1, 1707. Berard gives the latter as "March first."
Louis Berard was hired by the Duke of Leeds to tutor his grandsons William Henry Osborne, Earl of Danby (1690-1711) and Peregrine Hyde Osborne, Viscount Dunblane (1691-1731). He provided weekly accounts of the education of the two boys in this collection of letters.

Summary
Reporting that the boys continue to progress "...with the same diligence as before to mind their studies & exercises;" reporting that the current exchange rate is very high and he will likely lose "...above four pounds 10 shillings upon £100. But that can't be helpt, & as I have seen it sometimes a great deal Lower, so I have seen it Higher;" adding that he will send a quarterly accounting of his expenses.
