Summary
Discussing the renovations to his flat and the redesign of his study; saying "I have had no estimate yet from the steel shelves people. Pourquoi? We have not got their address, neither any clue to it! Damn them!...As regards desk fittings. Yes, anything attractive and useful. But not a desk-light. I have a 'day-light' desk lamp (steel) with which I would not part - it shall stand on my new[?] desk. It is invaluable to me, - it [illegible] the character of the room. I want as little on my desk as possible. Blotting pad, ash-tray, cigarette box, tray for pencils & pens (largeish). This is about all. I have suppressed the dash-board gadget at the left of the desk. For bells, clock, lights, etc. as I don't need it. The leading idea of my desk is that it is an expanse. I have passed the desk & the settee, but subject to your approving all the colours. This is all. I had great yachting for 14 days. I am now between the shafts again. Dorothy very busy on the flat."
