Informing him that his publishers, Cassells, "smile upon the idea of one of my long short stories illustrated by yourself, and issued as a Christmas book, in a limited edition;" asking how much he would charge for 6 or 10 drawings and adding "I take it that they would be pen drawings washed with colour, but I do not know. I am all in favour of bright coloured illustrations."
