Summary
Writing that the morning post had brought her a letter "very prettily written indeed for a little Girl of four Years old, so pleas'd am I, that I cou'd not let the day pass without writing a few lines, to thank my Beloved child for her attention & expressions of Love, which I most sensibly feel--I am so proud of my Letter that it shall be put in a very careful place, till my Darling pet grows up, then I will shew it to you, & together, talk over the delight you took in writing, & the raptures I experienced in reading your first performance"; mentioning that it reminds her of the first letter she received from EBB's father, Edward Moulton-Barrett, "which I still have, & will give you as a Keepsake when I come to see you"; asking when she will have a letter from "Bro" (Edward) and hoping that he attends to his books, for "[h]e will never be a Man till he does"; apologizing for not writing earlier to EBB's mother and father, and promising letters soon; telling her that "Junius says God Bless little Miss, I always knew she was very good, & am quite pleasd to see her write so well--" (see MA 8917.56 for information about Junius); writing that she supposes EBB will receive this letter in the morning, when all the family is gathered around the breakfast table, and asking her to give kisses and greetings to everyone from herself and from Mary Trepsack; asking her to tell "Bum" (EBB's aunt, Arabella Graham-Clarke) that the next time EBB's mother writes, she should send the Duchess of Northumberland's seal, as Elizabeth Moulton wants an impression from it; concluding: "Kiss dear Grandmama Clarke [EBB's maternal grandmother, also named Arabella Graham-Clarke] for me & ask her if she is not delighted with a little Girl of our acquaintance."
