Apologizing for not responding earlier; describing the death of her sister-in-law Elizabeth Barrett Browning as a "sad blow"; explaining that the effect on Robert Browning was severe: "[H]is bodily strength gave way, and caused us great uneasiness"; telling Snellgrove that her brother has given up his residence in Italy and is staying for the time being with herself, their father Robert Browning Sr., and his son Pen in a secluded village on the sea coast in Brittany; commenting that the calm and sea air have already done him good; writing that Robert Browning intends to return to England in order to give his son an English education; describing Pen: "The little fellow is strong and rosy, and gallops on his poney over this beautiful coast with great glee"; telling him that she has written to her uncle (possibly Reuben Browning) to direct him to send Snellgrove ten shillings "for the schools"; sending her own and her father's "kindest remembrance to you and yours."
