This single sheet of paper contains two letters: on one side, Henrietta Barrett has written a letter to Ann Henrietta Boyd, the daughter of Hugh Stuart Boyd, the classicist and friend of Elizabeth Barrett's. This letter is addressed to "Miss Boyd/ Great Malvern" and is postmarked "Ledbury." On the other side of the sheet, Elizabeth Barrett has written a letter to Ann Lowry Boyd, Hugh Stuart Boyd's wife.

Concerning the death of her paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Moulton; recalling her grandmother's kindness and care for her; writing of her reaction to the news of her death: "And when I saw from Papa's countenance, what I did not hear from his words--that it was over--I could not resist the natural grief. I am much better now, thank God; & do not indeed give up as you seem to think--& my strength seems to be returning surely & steadily"; asking Ann to write soon.
