Summary
Explaining that a poem she had written called "Visions", in which she described the personalities of various friends and family members through fictitious characters, was never meant to be read by any one but herself; admitting that "I have acted both wrongly & inconsiderately in having allowed myself to sketch even the virtues of my friends: and forgive me if I assure you that if I did wrong I did it unintentionally... Malice did not in the slightest degree influence either my heart or my pen"; promising that she will never "indulge myself again in triffling [sic] with the frailties of others"; telling him about the source for a poetic idea; sending him a "Thousand thanks" for a bracelet.
