Summary
Inviting her and Napoleon I to visit her school in St-Germain-en-Laye [i.e. the Institution nationale de Saint-Germain], where there will be a performance of Racine's play Esther; reminiscing about time spent with Josephine, Hortense, and Eugene (her children by her first husband, Alexandre de Beauharnais), and two girls named Adele [de Beauharnais, Josephine's half-sister] and Alexandrine [probably Alexandrine de Bleschamp, second wife of Lucien Bonaparte, Napoleon's younger brother] when they were young; mentions that Esther used to be performed for visiting foreign princesses and that she attended performances along with Marie-Antoinette, La Comtesse de Provence, and La Comtesse d'Artois; regrets that there is no way to know exactly what intonations Racine intended in performance, and says that during the visit, they will celebrate the baptism of "Eliza" [possibly Elisa, the daughter of Napoleon's younger sister Elisa].
