Summary
Discussing various reviews of his book; saying "I began to get better as I found the 'Enemy' advancing, and now that the Philistines are really upon me, I have quite recovered;" commenting on the review in "Ainsworth's Magazine" and the "Athenæum; saying he would like to have her opinion "...as to who wrote them - or your knowledge if you can obtain it without creating any suspicion that you wish to know on my account, in any way - but as matter of literary curiosity; or rather to know who the gentleman was who had praised you. Let me add 'justly' - he is not right scarcely, anywhere, in any thing else. I am almost sure I know 'the man'.
