Summary
Concerning her poem which she would like him to read; acknowledging receipt of her note, saying he will do what she wishes, "But it is the worst possible moment you could have selected (short of a last sigh) to ask me to read anything. You may suppose I have a sadly jaded mind and nervous system. You had better wait a week. But if you cannot, send me the poem at once - and I'll give it you. My opinion, I mean. But first - Oh, yes first surely - wait till our book is out?! Only tomorrow, to wait!? I will send you a copy the moment I can lay hands upon one. But have not even seen one yet;" telling her that the subscription to the trade has been strong and another edition is likely; inviting her to mark up the margins of her copy which will help him with the revisions; saying he intends to add an article to the next edition and if she should see any passages in it that should be omitted he would be happy for her opinion.
