Summary
A letter introducing the arctic explorer Captain William Parker Snow, who would like to submit a travel memoir on Australia to them, and asking that they give it careful consideration; explaining that Captain Snow is currently living in reduced circumstances without an income, and giving his opinion, on the basis of his examination of Snow's note books, that his writings would furnish interesting material for a volume relating his "long and various life", and making special note of the various prominent people he has known and associated, including Macauley and Charles Reade, for both whom he served as amanuensis; and concluding that "In short he ought to be able to write a very readable book of experiences."
