Summary
Informing him that Mr. [W.C.] Leng, of the Sheffield telegraph, would be interested in paying £1000 for a story by H. Rider Haggard, and that he has also offered £500 for Caine's story "The last thousand days"; noting that he would prefer to publish the story in a magazine rather than a newspaper, and that Mr. A.P. Watt has promised to offer it to Bentley and to Longman's, but that he would prefer that it be offered first to the recipient for publication "for serial or book form"; stating that the story will not be finished before May of next year, and that he has not described it to Mr. Watt or Mr. Leng; noting that his new novel, The deemster, is doing well in the newspapers, and that he has devised what he considers to be a much stronger title for the story, "The judgment of Daniel Mylrea".
