Summary
Notifying them that he will be leaving the Isle of Man the next day, and that he is currently arranging with W.F. Tillotson of the Bolton Evening News for a serial story to be published in 1889; sending them the text for an advertisement for his work and requesting them to run it in the Athenaeum or Spectator; inquiring if they have "got rid" of the library edition of his book [i.e. Son of Hagar] and will soon be able to announce a cheaper one; asking them to post a copy of the April issue of The gentleman's magazine, featuring the article by Mr. Fenton entitled "Adam Bede and Parson Christian", to W.F. Tillotson; remarking that he assumes they have sent a copy of his novel The story of a crime to Mr. R.H. Hutton as he has received "a most conciliatory" letter from him, and observing "Farther than this we could hardly expect an editor to go in admitting an error."
