Enclosing specimen pages from a proposed anthology of excerpts from popular novels edited by Mackenzie Bell, noting that Bell would like them to be the book's publisher, recommending Bell to them as "a gentleman both in the proper & the conventional sense" and his proposed anthology ("it is a new idea, I think, & might prove acceptable. You will remember that Cordy Jeaffreson's 'Novels & Novelists' is still before the public; thanking them for the advertisement for his A son of Hagar which appeared in the Athenaeum, and proposing to prepare for publication a collection of letters by D.G. Rossetti, noting that his Recollections of D.G. Rossetti "has been long out of print".
