Summary
Concerning the editing of his novels, a complimentary letter received by him from [Richard Doddridge] Blackmore "who after reading my novels is good enough to put them among the best of the time", conveying a request by Mackenzie Bell for a letter stating that they agree to publication terms laid out in a previous letter, announcing that he has been invited to write another newspaper story and that the terms offered are "the best I have had"; noting that he is hard at work on his latest novel, The deemster, which he expects to have ready for publication by the end of the year; transcribing an excerpt from a positive review of his novel, A son of Hagar, which appeared in the Saturday review, and suggesting that they use it to advertise the upcoming cheaper edition of that book.
