Summary
Congratulating him on his first steps as a newly fledged lawyer and telling him how proud their father will be to hear of it; reporting on visits from Dr. Scully and the state of her health; sending news of the family members at Torquay with her, among them Edward ("Bro"), Arabella, Henrietta, and their aunt Arabella Graham-Clarke ("Bummy"): "Goings on as usual at Torquay. Occasional quarrellings to clear the air & to keep up our respective characters"; telling him that the minister and family friend George Barrett Hunter and his daughter Mary have left for Kingsbridge; teasing him about his future prospects: "now that you have not forgotten me on the reception of yr first briefs, I rejoice in feeling sure that you wont cut me when you are chancellor."
