Apologizing for possibly alarming her in the last letter with the mention of her son Thomas's persistent cough, but "I could not make myself easy without telling you"; informing her that his cough is now much better, and that the apothecary is certain it isn't whooping cough; letting her know that the parcel entrusted to a "Miss Martineau" has arrived and "your little boy begs to thank you for the contents"; sending compliments to her, her husband Dr. Thomas Denman, and "the young ladies".
