Summary
Telling Knight that he will not be able to write the volume on John Stuart Mill for Knight's series, because he is not sufficiently in sympathy with Mill to be qualified for the project, but also because he has embarked on "some semi-philosophical work of a more original kind" and he would like to devote his time and energies to that instead.
