Acquired as part of a large collection of letters addressed to William Angus Knight, Chair of Moral Philosophy at the University of St. Andrews and Wordsworth scholar. Items in the collection have been individually accessioned and cataloged.
The article to which Lady Balfour refers is "The Poetry of the Earl of Lytton" by George Saintsbury and appeared in "The Forum", volume XXII, September 1896-February 1897, pp. 467-482.
Written on stationery engraved "Whittingehame, / Prestonkirk, N.B. / Sta. East Linton, N.B.R. / Tel: Stenton."
Sending him a copy of "The Wanderer" and a copy of "Selections" and apologizing for her "broken promise" to send them much earlier; asking if he had "...read Prof. Saintsbury's article on his [her father's] poems in the Dec: number of the 'Forum' & if so what you thought of it. So far as I know my Father never wrote a poem on Wordsworth - but if he did it is not among the published works known to me."
