Notes
Acquired as part of a large collection of letters addressed to William Angus Knight, Chair of Moral Philosophy at the University of St. Andrews and Wordsworth scholar. Items in the collection have been individually accessioned and cataloged.
The date of writing is given only as "Monday". Because Lubbock signs this letter as "John Lubbock" and not "Avebury" (his title after 1900), this letter is likely to have been written before 1900.
The place of writing is given only as "Edenview"; however, the postmark on MA 8841.10 confirms that "Edenview" is located within or near St. Andrews.
