Acquired as part of a large collection of letters addressed to William Angus Knight, Chair of Moral Philosophy at the University of St. Andrews and Wordsworth scholar. Items in the collection have been individually accessioned and cataloged.
On stationery with the Lubbock family crest and motto ("Auctor pretiosa facit").
The place of writing is not given, but Lubbock wrote a letter to Knight from St. Andrews just two days earlier (see MA 8841.6) and the similar contents of the two letters (scheduling rounds of golf) suggest that they were written from the same location.
