Acquired as part of a large collection of letters addressed to William Angus Knight, Chair of Moral Philosophy at the University of St. Andrews and Wordsworth scholar. Items in the collection have been individually accessioned and cataloged.
Though the year of writing is not given, the Duchess of Argyll's previous letter (MA 8801.3), written in December 1903 and promising to return the letters "next month", suggests that this letter was written in January 1904.
With an embossed letterhead consisting of a crown and the address "Macharioch/ Campbeltown/ Argyllshire".
Written on mourning stationery.
