Summary
Saying to Marchesa Angélique Potenziani that she is writing from her bed where she has been passing the whole day already for a month, getting up only for a few hours every night when everything is closed up and warm in her huge, uncomfortable and pretentious apartment; informing her that the marriage contract for Livia is about to be signed and that the wedding will take place on the 20th of this month which will be a sad moment for all as they will be separated from this truly angelic human being; reporting that she has good news from Angélique who, as she is glad to know, has returned home; mentioning Camille who is in Naples, but will leave shortly, and his wife, who is always ailing and dreams of a change of air, spas, and relocations which would cost them a fortune.
