Summary
According to the document, the Imperial Minister Saliceti and Derville Malechard, the chargé d'affaires at Lucca, had been good friends, and Saliceto had sent Derville two or three times bank drafts totaling twelve thousand francs; the money was used for, among other things, a trip by the debtor's mother to take the baths at Lucca. When Saliceti died, Derville's memorandum regarding his obligation was found among Saliceti's papers. Later, both Derville and Saliceti left their respective positions and did not see each other again. The heirs of the Minister (mentioned is Price de la Torella) apparently did not press their claim; Derville, however, although without means of support and dependent on the benefits he received from the govenment, declares himself ready to make arrangements for reimbursement of the twelve thousand francs.
