Summary
Saying to a friend that it is true that he will be elevated the the rank of cardinal next Monday and that he accepts his congratulations with thanks; informing him that the marriage of his ward with Signor Gentili of Viterbo did not materialize, neither that with Sig. Calabresi, but that there has now emerged in the same town another prospect, Sig. Tobia Fani, but his family is penniless, so the deal will come with naught; (in his own hand) adding that he is convinced of his sincerity and friendship for which he is grateful, but that he doesn't have a moment's time with all these intrigues.
