Notes
Acquired as part of a large collection of letters addressed to William Angus Knight, Chair of Moral Philosophy at the University of St. Andrews and Wordsworth scholar. Items in the collection have been individually accessioned and cataloged.
The year of writing is not given, however, it is possible that this letter follows on to a previous letter in the collection which appears to be written in 1895. It is dated May 7 (MA 8762.6) and in it Knight extends an invitation to a R.[oyal] S.[ociety] event. The Countess Airlie declines as the date is too far in the future for her to know if she will be in town.
Written from "4 Lowndes Square" on mourning stationery.
