Summary
Regretting that she and her daughter are unable to accept his invitation to the Royal Society as the date is "too far off to be sure of being in town;" adding that she has "...not seen L. Tollemache's Reminiscences. I see some criticism on them to the effect that Jowett was not witty. They write too much about popular men. It needs genius to present the semblance of such a character to the world - & it cannot be done by detached little jokes & conversations. It is all 'copy'."
