I myself have had all manner of uneasiness about that region; but I take it to be functional, not organic, and have ceased to fear. Do you the same"; writing of his mother and a possible trip to see her; advising him on publishing matters, saying that "[i]n a season so peculiarly adverse to the luxury of books I am not surprised that Murray is shy about your 'Italy'. But see Routledge before you leave London. He is an enterprising fellow, and surely the times will soon mend."
