Telling Knight that he had purchased a copy of the "Memoir" in November, "one of the earliest copies I think", and explaining that the copy that Knight had sent him had not yet reached him; saying however that "[i]t will be advantageous to have this earlier copy apart from the interest & satisfaction attaching to the manner in which it has come into our possession."
