Summary
Defending Andrew Lang's actions in showing him some letters from the recipient in which he stated his intentions to publish poems by Bridges in an anthology without his permission, and going on to state that his objections to Miles's planned anthology are "1st to the writing the 'lives' of living persons, 2nd the serious paraphenalia of criticism which is of course much more objectionable when it is managed and arranged. I do not wish for praise, much less such praise; and if I shd make any stipulation with respect to a critique it wd rather be that the writer shd be personally unknown to me."; concluding that if Miles would include a statement in his book specifically noting that he declined permission to have his poems printed in it, it would " exonerate you, and satisfy me".
