Summary
Writing to inquire about the schools in Florence; saying "It looks rather as if Florence might be the line of least resistance in our search for a winter quarters... Henry tells me of a new English school which you had some part in promoting and which you think good. Therefore, 1. Do you still think it good? 2. Is english the general language, and the boys mostly english? 3. When does the term begin, and need one apply beforehand to get a boy in? 4. Could you be the means of having a circular sent me? 5. Are the "sanitary" aspects of the building good? I have two boys, one of 13 whom we shall most likely leave at Lausanne. The other, of ten, we shall certainly take to Florence if we go. What he ought to be getting is lots of either French or German?... Finally, one more question: How late is it safe to leave open the question of an apartment? Ought I to go to Fl. early in September to be in time to get something sunny and heatable? or might it be left till we all go, say October 1st? Pray pardon this intrusive appeal - necessity knows no law..."
