Summary
Expressing his happiness at hearing from him and inviting him to "Come down here as soon as you can...Any day will be equally faultless for me for my whole time will be at your service. I always have occupations but I also always have free hours...I am delighted to hear of your Vallombrosa home - & hope you may all like the place only 1/2 as well as I did. I fell utterly in love with it. Many, many thanks for fending off the American interviewers - you never rendered me a more precious or loyal service. If you will only always do the like, I shall as often bless & re-bless you. This place is most loveable [sic] - the hotel really excellent. The Bourgets are a great resource & the air & temperature perfect. Mrs. Chapman, Mrs. Barclay's (of Rome) mother, an old friend of mine, has just been spending 3 days here - she returns (to Rome) tomorrow. I try to live up to Taccini's temperature, and must always depend upon you to interpret my feelings. Interpret them, however, more particularly to the gallant little Jack whose portrait delights me. What a glorious child. Interpret them most of all to yourself, my dear Baldwin - & let the interpretation take the form of a dash to Siena at your 1st leisure. "
