Summary
Thanking him for acknowledging his birthday and reflecting on the increasing irrelevance of the day as he grows older and his friends die off ("so one is happier in avoiding festivals, and keeping birthdays quietly with memories."); congratulating him on his daughter's graduation from Oxford; expressing his surprise at hearing from Mr. Leonard Clark with the expectation that he will be submitting a piece to him for publication; mentioning Phyllis Bentley and Storm Jameson as Yorkshire authors worthy of note who seem to be neglected by the recipient in building his collection.
