Summary
Writing with news of the British ships and naval personnel stationed in Alexandria during the Anglo-Egyptian War, with references to Lord Beresford's ship H.M.S. Condor, an imminent attack on the fortifications of the city ("they say we are to bombard the forts in two or three days time, this looks like business ... no one can say what Urabi will do but he has been very busy with his forts again"), the exodus of Europeans from Egypt, his disappointment at not seeing news of the naval actions Lord Beresford reported in the papers, and updates on ship movements and on the health and personal activities of various naval officers.
