Summary
Requesting his assistance in urging the claims of their mutual friend, the Conservative representative of Queens County in Ireland Robert Cosby, to the peerage; comments on the poor quality of the weaponry used in the recent Egyptian conflict, with technical observations on the practices of manufactueres and the quality of the iron and steel employed by them; describing his recent discovery of large deposits of iron ore and manganese, his efforts to establish a company to work the mines he has opened with the aim of mining the metal and converting it into weaponry, and inviting Lord Breresford to join the board of his company.
