Summary
Concerning a recent humiliating experience with an article, "A correspondent (English, I am proud to say) wrote a ... letter to the editor explaining that he and a friend had a small bet as to whether the article was humorous, and would the editor decide the matter. The editor referred the dispute to me, & I have called him names behind his back ever since"; notes facetiously that the fox terriers in Edinburgh all run from him, "not knowing whom they are wanted for" (Barrie had previously corresponded on the subject of finding a fox terrier for her as a gift) , and closes with the observation that the man next door has a good fox terrier, adding "I wonder if he will miss it much".
