Summary
Thanking her for her congratulations on receiving a doctorate degree and congratulating the recipient in turn on the receipt of her own doctorate; expressing her feeling that she never has and never shall live up to the honor ("which made me feel in my scarlet and blue gown like some owlish sort of fowl, who had 'borried the loan' of a macaw's feathers, and didn't find them by any means suitable wear"); praising the recipient's Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm and its efficacy in cheering up her father during a recent bout of influenza which likewise afflicted her entire household; briefly describing her current stay in Wales with her father; and noting that she has been studying Gaelic "with very small success."
