Summary
Explaining that a previous note sent to him via a third party was delayed and repeating his request that a parcel from his brother be sent to him from London; sending a new play (i.e. The conscript's sister) along with "The mysterious mother" for "the governor", to be given to him by the recipient with the writer's request that they " get someone better than Mister Perkins to do François", and that he receive a sum of 20 pounds for the work; wishing him joy of a recent success, with a reference to his own unsuccessful attempt to write a piece for the child actor "Little Poole"; promising the recipient that he will pay his debts to him some day; and describing the pleasant stay he is having in France. With a note written on the upper left hand corner of the first page reading, "I don't want any one [to] know the authorship of the Conscript's Sister, even should it be played."
