Summary
Congratulating him, in somewhat ambivalent terms, on his approaching marriage (i.e. "I should have thought myself that it is a great deal of trouble being married & that it would require rather to be borne under condolence - but as you seem to be pleased at it, I am pleased also"); regretting that his plans to be in France will prevent his attending the wedding; notes that he has grown lazy and indifferent of late ("I am healthier & Happier than Clough, but I do less ... I give up everything in order to read law & then do not read it") and spends a considerable amount of time at the Great Exhibition ("I stand & give lectures on lady's dress and furniture & machinery with admirable pluck & much emphasis."); promises to write, although he has fallen off in his correspondence.
