Summary
Describes the dullness of his daily life in Ballyshannon, his lack of enthusiasm for his writing, and a recent stay in Bundoran and notes that he has just "spilt the inkbottle over a new tablecloth" and that there is somebody "who will be excessively angry"; recalls a pleasant visit to Epping ("The rhododendrons & azaleas, by the by, I have transplanted into an unpleasant poem, nearly finished. The subject is oppressive & I shall be glad to be out of it"); asks after her and her husband and mentions the Howitts' son, Alfred William Howitt, who is "still working his mine in Australia".
