Collection of ca. 222 letters received by Thomas Balston (1883-1967) from artists and authors, including his correspondence concerning the 1949 exhibit of wood engravings which he organized for the National Book League. Letters include both personal and professional correspondence relating to his activities as a publisher and his interest in wood engraving and English book illustration and production, including letters from Tom Nash, Gwen Raverat, Albert Rutherston, Reynolds Stone, Sir Hughe Montgomery Knatchbull-Hugessen, V.S. Pritchett, and many others.
