Summary
Informing him that the Duke of York had appointed him an Aide-de-Camp and thanking him for all he has done to make it possible; commenting on the "Disturbances...of late, principally in consequence of a Bill to prevent Seditious Meetings. This Bill is to pass I believe Tomorrow and notwithstanding the Artful & violent Steps which Opposition takes & causes to be taken, Ministry appear determined to persist in it, & the Efforts of the Mob which their opponents collect on all occasions are very little to be apprehended, when there are near 15000 of the Military in & about Town; commenting on the delay in the West India Expedition due to bad weather; relating various troop positions, movements and engagements; adding, in a postscript, that the Duke is at Bath with General and Mrs. Harcourt and he has been working in the Duke's office with General Brownrigg.
