Summary
Reporting on the Battle of Menen and the Battle of Mouscron; commenting "Between Ourselves, the Hanoverians are very much dispirited. They complain loudly of the Austrians & of being left to defend their Country. You know their natural Dislike to the Austrians & this last Affair has added much to it. On the other Side it must be said that they have been much opposed & have lost numbers of Men. They behave very well but are a much unfortunate Corps;" commenting on the surrender at Landrecies and the effects of the bombardment saying "It destroyed their Magazines & the Town is reduced to by far a more wretched State than was Valenciennes;" adding, in a postscript a reference to his accounts and a comment on Mr. de Moussaye; saying "I see one of Your letters for Mr. de [la] Moussaye. He is a great Scoundrel, I know it from His shewing me one of Your letters in which He had forged 3 Words. He did not know at the time that he was shewing me what I had written myself;" adding, in a note above the address panel, that General Hammerstein has "brought away 13 Cannons."
