Summary
Asking for his support in gaining a promotion; adding "I had the honor once before (MA 1269.13) to mention to you that from our numerous family it would be impossible for me to purchase forward in the Army; since that time I have had the misfortune to lose my good old father, a loss most sensibly felt by my worthy Mother and five Sisters. I beg leave to state that I have been the last 20 years with my Reg't upwards of 16 of which an Officer; from these circumstances I trust Sir, you will pardon the liberty I take in making this request."
