Summary
Concerning his desire to get an assignment in Leghorn; saying he understands that "Mr. Wyndham will not be again Sent to Florence & I have by this conveyance written L'd Lorne to endeavour, with your assistance, to procure me that Situation - It has been the Practice at L'd Hawksbury's office, to consider Leghorn, a very Lucrative Employment w'h might perhaps, smooth my way, to the Situation I am desirous of acquiring. There will no doubt be several applications & I can hardly flatter myself with a Prospect of success - The application will however be a favourable Introduction to L'd Hawksbury & in some measure entitle me to bring the subject forward, upon some more favourable occasion. I therefore earnestly beg you may with L'd Lorne make the application, as it will at least give me Pretentions that you have not thought it improper to apply for my appointment."
