Thanking him for his reply to his letter of the 19th (MA 1266.46) concerning his request for permission for a Captain Yates to purchase a Majority; explaining it was never his wish that the promotion be in the Royal Irish, but rather he was writing at the request of friends of the Officer who held him such high regard; expressing his satisfaction with his determination and candor.
